Meet The Artist

Hi, I am Negin. I am an Iranian Australian refugee whom migrated to Australia with my family in 1989 at the age of eight. Thirty-four years later, an artist residing in the Southern Highlands, NSW.

My practice allows me to unpack the dichotomy of homeland longing and displacement with complex feelings of legal rights and general safety in Australia. I am proud to fuse trauma-related practices with socially engaged art to tell my story and encourage others to work through theirs.

We escaped Iran by foot and settled In Pakistan for two years until Australia gave us permanent residency…

- Shaping Trauma Through Art -

I am proud to create multi-layered, mixed-media, intricate, semi-abstract artworks. I use art to explore and unpack the motifs of trauma, identity, and healing, while channelling my emotional journey as a refugee from Iran - shaping feelings into works of art.

I hope that my artworks take you on a journey and draw you in to connect and empathise with my experience, gaining insights into the complex emotions and psychological effects of trauma.

Trauma art can be a powerful healing tool for both the artist and the audience, and I am so happy to have you here with me.
